Every time someone sees this, they comment on it and seem to want one of their own. We love the LightWedge. It's easy on the eyes and is not as hard to maneuver as you'd think it would be.

LightWedge Reading Light - Regular Feature

  • Thin and lightweight (8.5 oz with batteries)
  • Distortion-free, optical-grade acrylic lens
  • Sturdy, easy to handle
  • Also useful as a bookmark
  • Eye-friendly LED illumination (no bulbs to burn out)
A Different Kind of Book Light The LightWedge is an efficient book light with a streamlined design. A lighted, distortion-free acrylic lens extends across the book page and emits all the brightness directly onto the book page, reducing shadows and glare. Since the light is emitted directly onto the page, there's no excess reflection to disturb others nearby. The LightWedge is thin and lightweight and easily slips into a backpack, tote bag, or briefcase. Also, when not in use, it is useful as a convenient bookmark stored between a book's pages. The bright LEDs that illuminate the LightWedge have two brightness levels and a lifetime warranty. The light can run for 40 hours on four AAA batteries. The LightWedge can rest on the left page and then simply be flipped over to read the right page. The LightWedge has these great features:

Alternative book light - dctaschler - Washington, DC
Mixed review.br /I like it, I have the red light version.br /It's very unobtrusive while reading in bed. I never wake my wife. br /UNLESS I need to turn a page. I have to physically move the light wedge out of the way and turn the page and replace the wedge. That part gets a little annoying. br /br /The red light does seem to be a little dim at times.br /Batteries last a long time and the fact that they are AAAs makes them easy to replace.br /br /

Good product with limitations - Eagle Vision - Southeastern United States
I read books at night, frequently, so I purchased this product so I wouldn't disturb my wife. This light source is simple in design: tiny LED lamps illuminate a thin piece of plastic (working similar to a fiberoptic lamp Lumisource LS-FO SPRAY Fiber Optic Spray). It is about the dimensions of a full sized book and the black handle which houses the battery/light source is somewhat bulky. A small button toggles the light intensity from low to dim to off.br /br /USEbr /br /Place the item on the page that you want to read, push the button to the light intensity that you desire (allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness, which may take a minute or more), and flip the item to the other page to read. As you turn the page, you will need to take the item out, and place it back into the book.br /br /In concept, this product is ideal. You have a light source that is limited to the pages that you are viewing. However, even on the highest intensity (let's call it dim and dimmer), the light is still somewhat low. What can you read with this item? Books that have high contrast paper (glossy pages are most ideal since the reflective proper of the paper allows for better view). Conventional novels are a bit more difficult to read. Magazines are impossible unless you read on your stomach with the magazine placed on the bed. Furthermore, pictures are difficult to see, at best.br /br /DURABILITYbr /br /Like any screen on a laptop, I placed a SCREEN PROTECTOR on my lightwedge to prevent scratches. Any scratch with transmit uneven light (more than usual).br /br /Given that LEDs have very little power requirements, I have had the same batteries in the unit for the past 3 years, and it is still running.br /br /DESIGN RECOMMENDATIONSbr /br /More LED bulbs along the 'spine' of the handle would improve the light intensity.br /br /A thinner, scratch resistant plastic with a lighter handle would be a marked improvement.br /br /VERDICTbr /br /Knowing the limitations and tendency for scratches, it is an innovative product that still has good uses. You will need to try this product for yourself, before you can decide if it works for you.br /br /

Lightwedge Paperback Combo (with case) - Petal

Lightwedge Paperback Combo (with case) - Petal Review

Since our children began to read, we have had a love/hate relationship with book lights. While they made a trip to Grandma's more pleasant, maintaining the bulbs was not. More nerve-racking than that was the fear that they would inadvertently shine the lights in the rear-view mirror or at another car, temporarily blinding/distracting the driver. After a few hair-raising episodes we had to limit book lights to older children only. Had the LightWedge been available it would have eliminated both issues. The LED illumination means no bulbs to burn out. The distortion-free optical-grade acrylic lens spills the light onto the page, not into anyone's eyes. The thin lens sits flat over the page you wish to read, is hefty enough to hold open the pages of many books, and can also double as a bookmark. Weighing just 8.5 ounces, the LightWedge is easy to pack and carry. At 6.75” x 9.25”, the LightWedge seems bigger than the typical clip-on book light, but once you start to use it you will be ple

Ott-Lite 438009 Bookstand Lite

Ott-Lite 438009 Bookstand Lite Review

This book stand is nice. So nice that I'm considering getting another. It holds a variety of book sizes as it is adjustable both in width and height. The light is good and it has a low and high setting. Although the light would be better with just a bit more height to it so it would fall more evenly on the pages, it is certainly better than any other book light I've tried. A previous user said that it didn't light much at all but I disagree - it is for reading the book not to light the entire room. It works nicely in lighting the book. My only other suggestion would be to have the bottom part of the holder clear; as it is it covers up the bottom sentences when reading a paperback. Still this is a minor inconvenience and I recommend this book stand.

Ott-Lite 438009 Bookstand Lite Feature

  • 3AAA batteries (not included)
  • Unit Dimensions - 3.56 x 4.5 x 11.75, Weight - 1.68 lbs.
The new Bookstand Lite offers the ultimate in utility and comfort. Great for reading, holding recipe books, computer work and more, this clever innovation in lighting provides low-glare and-low heat, and the LED illumination doesn't cause eyestrain. Now you can do what you love longer.

Poor quality, doesn't last long - Lisa Aldrich - Albany, Oregon, USA
I purchased two of these book lights for Christmas gifts and less than one month later they are both dying. The lights flicker and dim, and overall I am very disappointed in this purchase. So are my grandsons, who love to read in bed after I tuck them in. Now I'm back to square one, looking for good book lights.

LightWedge Original LED Book Light

LightWedge Original LED Book Light Review

I have purchased several reading lights and always found myself either needing a brighter light, or having to adjust the position so I could read all the letters on a page. I recently discovered the lightwedge and love it. It provides light across the entire page (because it lays on top of the page) there is no adjusting of anything to get to the end of the page. Because the lightwedge lies on top of the page being read, highlighting or inserting notes is a little challenging but it can be done.

LightWedge Original LED Book Light Feature

  • Slim LED book light lies flat on a page for thorough illumination
  • Quality acrylic lens and LED technology provide users with a clean read, free of distortion, glare, and bulb failures
  • 4 AAA batteries power the light up to 40 hours
  • Store the book light in a book or case to prevent scratches and dust accumulation; clean with lens cleaner and microfiber cloth
  • The book light measures 6-3/4 by 9-1/4 inches; weighs 8.5 ounces; batteries not included
For avid readers who have spent many an hour squinting in dim light, LightWedge created this innovative LED book light. It lies flat on the book page, creating the impression that the book itself glows while illuminating each word without distortion or glare. Compatible with books of all sizes, the book light minimizes readers’ optical duress and discomfort whether brightening a thick, new hardback or used paperback. p Equipped with LED technology, this book light eliminates the problem of faulty or burnt out bulbs associated with many other book lights. Four AAA batteries power the book light for up to 40 hours, making it an ideal companion for a long flight or car ride. The book light features a high quality acrylic lens, a similar construction to that of a pair of reading glasses. Two levels of brightness enable readers to adjust the book light to suit particular environments and optical capabilities with a simple, one-touch button. For best results, clean the book light like other optical equipment with a lens cleaner and a soft, micro-fiber cloth. Storing the book light within a book or a protective case prevents scratches, dust and other debris from obstructing the lens surface, while extending the light’s longevity. Batteries are not included with the book light. The book light measures 6-3/4 by 9-1/4 inches and weighs 8-1/2 ounces. i--Jessica Reuling/i Imagine a pane of bright, even light illuminating only the page you are reading. That's the idea behind LightWedge. No glare, no stray light to disturb others. Just rest it on the page and read. Now, imagine what you could do with a light like that.

Keep looking! - Eno Shravenko - where indeed?
I like this light. It's bright. It's light (in weight) and it works just fine... EXCEPT:br /br /It's the biggest battery hog I've ever encountered in a light. 2 AAA batteries will get you about 45 mins of usable reading light. The thing will be dead out in 90 mins. I've tried rechargable batteries that run for hours in my other flashlights. I've tried non-rechargables. I even ordered 2 (fortunately I got them for $.99 on a closeout site) so I did the tests in both with the same result... VERY SHORT battery life.br /If this were a flashlight, it would still be usable because most flashlight use is for a few mins... but as a reading light where by definition you're going to have it on for extended periods of time, it's worthless. DON'T BUY.
